Care | Thermopsis caroliniana is a wonderful plant for the gardener that has always lusted for the western lupine but has the heat and humidity of the southeast. It is best used in large groupings in borders, meadows, cut flower gardens, and wildflower gardens. Like Baptisia, it can take up to three years to get fully established and does not like to be crowded in a planting design. |
Soil | Prefers average, well-drained soils in full sun. Heat and drought tolerant. |
Pruning | To maintain dense growth, foliage can be cut back about a month after flowering. |
